LEVEL 1

What is Phishing?

๐Ÿ’ก
Did You Know? The word "phishing" is spelled with a "ph" because hackers thought it was clever โ€” like fishing ๐ŸŽฃ, but for your personal information!

Imagine getting a text from "your school" saying your account will be deleted unless you click a link RIGHT NOW. Sounds scary, right? That's exactly what phishers want you to feel! Phishing is when bad guys pretend to be someone you trust โ€” like your school, a game you play, or even a friend โ€” to trick you into giving away your password or personal info.

๐Ÿง  How to Spot & Stop Phishing

  • ๐Ÿ” Look at the email address closely. Scammers use sneaky addresses like support@paypa1.com โ€” notice the "1" instead of "l"!
  • ๐Ÿ”— Don't click links in strange messages. When in doubt, go directly to the website yourself by typing the address.
  • ๐Ÿ˜ฐ If it makes you panic, pause! Phishers use scary words like "URGENT!" or "Act now!" to make you click without thinking.
  • ๐Ÿ™… Real companies never ask for your password. If someone does โ€” it's a scam, full stop!
  • ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ง Tell a trusted adult. If something feels weird online, always show a parent, guardian, or teacher.
๐Ÿšจ Watch Out! If a message feels scary or super urgent, that's a big clue it might be a trap! Stop, breathe, and ask a grown-up before clicking anything.
๐Ÿ“Œ Remember this: Think before you click. When in doubt, throw it out!

LEVEL 2

What is Malware?

๐Ÿ’ก
Did You Know? "Malware" is short for malicious software. "Malicious" just means mean or harmful โ€” so malware is basically mean software! ๐Ÿ˜ค

Think of malware like a computer cold ๐Ÿคง โ€” it sneaks into your device and makes everything go wrong. Some malware deletes your files, some slows your computer to a crawl, and some (called ransomware ๐Ÿ”’) actually locks you out and demands money! It usually hides inside downloads, game cheats, or shady websites.

๐Ÿง  How to Stay Safe from Malware

  • ๐Ÿ”„ Always update your apps and device. Updates fix the cracks that malware sneaks through โ€” like patching holes in a wall!
  • ๐Ÿ“ฅ Only download from trusted places. Get apps from official app stores like Google Play or the App Store โ€” not random websites.
  • ๐Ÿ” Use antivirus software. Think of it as your computer's immune system โ€” it finds and removes bad stuff before it causes damage.
  • ๐Ÿ’พ Save important files in a safe place. Back up your schoolwork and photos so you don't lose them if something goes wrong.
  • ๐Ÿšซ Never plug in a USB you found. Unknown USB drives can infect your computer the second you plug them in!
๐Ÿšจ Watch Out! Is your computer suddenly super slow, showing weird pop-ups, or opening apps on its own? It might have malware โ€” tell an adult right away!
๐Ÿ“Œ Remember this: Only download what you know. Keep your device updated and your antivirus running!
๐Ÿ•ต๏ธ
LEVEL 3

What is Spyware?

๐Ÿ’ก
Did You Know? Some spyware can secretly turn on your camera or microphone without you knowing! That's why many people put a sticker over their laptop camera when they're not using it. ๐Ÿ“ท

Spyware is like a spy hiding inside your device ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธ โ€” it secretly watches everything you do without you knowing. It can see what you type, which websites you visit, and even try to steal your passwords. Spyware often hides inside apps that seem totally normal, like a free game or a fun filter app.

๐Ÿง  How to Protect Yourself from Spyware

  • ๐Ÿ“ฑ Check what apps are allowed to do. Before installing anything, look at its permissions. A game should NOT need your location or contacts!
  • ๐Ÿงฉ Be picky with browser add-ons. Only install browser extensions that are well-known and have lots of good reviews.
  • ๐Ÿ“ถ Be careful on public Wi-Fi. Free Wi-Fi at cafes or malls can be risky โ€” spyware can snoop on your data. Ask a parent about using a VPN.
  • ๐Ÿงน Delete apps you don't use. Old apps can still collect your data even when you're not using them โ€” so ditch the ones you don't need!
  • ๐Ÿ“ท Cover your camera when not in use. A simple sticker can stop spyware from secretly recording you.
๐Ÿšจ Watch Out! Is your phone battery dying super fast or using lots of data for no reason? Spyware might be running secretly in the background!
๐Ÿ“Œ Remember this: Privacy matters! Check your app permissions and only install apps from people you trust.

Your Cyber Safety Rulebook

Follow these rules every day and you'll be a certified Cyber Hero! โญ

๐Ÿ”‘

Make Strong Passwords

Use at least 12 characters and mix in numbers and symbols. Never use your name or birthday โ€” those are too easy to guess!

โœŒ๏ธ

Use Two-Step Login

Two-factor authentication (2FA) means even if someone gets your password, they still can't get in. It's like having two locks on your door!

๐ŸŒ

Browse Safely

Look for the ๐Ÿ”’ padlock in your browser. If a website doesn't have it, don't enter any personal information!

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ

Tell a Trusted Adult

If something online feels wrong or scary, always tell a parent, guardian, or teacher. You are never in trouble for asking for help!
